Legendary mas maker Alvin Bailey dies

Almost on the eve of Carnival, legendary mas maker Alvin Bailey has died. He was 71.
He was one-third of the Bailey trio, which included brothers Albert and George Bailey who died 40 years ago.
Alvin had been suffering from a stomach illness since last year. He died around 5am at the Port of Spain General Hospital.
Alvin won numerous titles as a designer for both of his brothers. The most recent was in 1991 when he won both band of the year and Queen of the band titles. In 1990 he co-founded Washington DC Carnival. Up to the time of his death he was still very active in Carnival designing.
He leaves behind his brother Albert; wife, Ann Marie, 4 children 9 grand children, three sons-in-law and one daughter in law.
The family is planning a tribute at Queen's Hall on Ash Wednesday.
