People's Partnership wins 11 of the 14 regional corporations at Local Government Election
Tuesday 27th July, 2010
It's a scene that's still fresh in our minds following the May 24th victory.
But this is no Déjà Vu. The Partnership captured 6 of the corporations which previously were controlled by the People's National Movement including Diego Martin and Arima, once considered the strongholds of the PNM.
And while her colleague joked about the defeat suffered by the PNM, the Prime Minister had a more peaceful message for supporters on the other side.
She promised that regional corporations would not be used as tools of discrimination.
She said each area will be funded and attended to equally by the central government.
And as she hailed the members of the partnership for the victory, she promised to keep officials in leadership positions in line.
The Partnership now controls all of the Regional Corporations except Port of Spain, San Juan/ Laventille and Point Fortin which have been retained by the PNM.
