PM wants integrity and accountability in her administration
Thursday 29th July, 2010
The Prime Minister assures there will be integrity, accountability and innovation in the running of the parliament under her administration.
The parliamentarians from the commonwealth had been discussing greater autonomy of parliament; the need for parliament to be more accessible to the people... to really reach into communities and constitutional reform during a two day conference that ended yesterday.
The Prime Minister says perhaps the time has come to create a parliamentary model that is more in keeping with the cultural reality of the region.
But she says that now the discussions are over the time has come to act on the recommendations.
And in doing so she made it clear that the parliament in this country is no exception.
She congratulated the youth delegates who attended the two day conference.
The Prime Minister said from all indications the future of the parliamentary process and the positive evolution of our young democracies are secure in the hands of our region's youth.
The PM was speaking at a function at the diplomatic centre for parliamentarians of the commonwealth.
