Heavy rains bring floods in the Capital city and environs

Heavy rains bring floods in the Capital city and environs
Thursday 29th July, 2010

Heavy afternoon showers overflowed drains in Port of Spain and along the east west corridor today.

Just outside of CNMG studios, on Maraval road, pedestrians were spotted trudging through the ankle high water.

On Tragarete road gushing water covered sidewalks making the streets look more like rivers than roads.

Meanwhile on Wrightson Road, equally high waters caused heavy traffic pile up on both sides of the road.

Heavy rains stranded several residents of Valsayn today as they attempted to return home.

Further east in Valsayn Heavy rains stranded several residents of Valsayn today as they attempted to return home.

Our cameras captured mages of cars parked along the Churchill Roosevelt Highway, not daring to brave knee height water although those with better equipped vehicles braved the flood waters.

In Central and South Trinidad which are usually prone to flooding were spared today. C News understands there was little rainfall in the area.
