Thursday 12th March, 2009
The city of Port of Spain and a few other areas are getting mini facelifts thanks to the fifth Summit of the Americas, to be held in Port of Spain from April 17th to 19th.
Work is already well under way in Sea Lots where the highway is being widened and there is general work being done throughout downtown Port of Spain.
Today local government minister Hazel Manning said that the beautification planning has been going on since last October and the areas to be given a make-over stretch from the Piarco international airport, along the Eastern Main Road, Priority Bus Route and the Churchill Roosevelt highway, basically the main routes that the visiting dignitaries will use.
Work crews from the Port of Spain, San Juan/ Laventille, and Tunapuna/ Piarco regional corporations have been identified and Canadian consulting firm Genevar is also involved in the make-over.
